Janice Cheam – President & CEO
Janice is a founder and an entrepreneurial executive whose vision, commitment, and passion have been the driving force behind Energy Aware since inception. Before launching Energy Aware, she demonstrated leadership and visionary success with the marketing group of CTV, Canada’s most watched television station. Janice holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) with a specialization in Marketing from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
Colby Gore – Chief Technology Officer
Colby’s experience includes working as a Project Engineer for Universal Dynamics (now Andritz Automation) and developing research equipment for the Manufacturing Automation Laboratory at the University of British Columbia. Colby also previously worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Sierra Wireless. Colby holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters of Engineering in Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
Jonathan Hallam – VP Engineering
Prior to joining Energy Aware, Jon’s experience included the role of team leader of Canada’s Thunderbird Robotics at the NASA – Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) challenge, a US military-led engineering project. Jon holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Ali Kashani, PhD – VP Software
Ali is responsible for software strategy at Energy Aware including vision, research, and development. Ali’s team of developers and data scientists create advanced analytics for utilities and consumers to increase consumer savings and reduce grid inefficiency. Ali is the recipient of numerous scholarships and fellowships, including the highly prestigious Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship from National Science and Engineering Research Council. He holds a BASc in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Robotics and Computer Vision from the University of British Columbia, where he also received his post-doctoral training.
